1/14/24-1/15/24
1/14/24 Mickey and Meredith left early to fly home. We visited the small convince store to get some milk. And walked around the “Resort” which was pretty empty. We did some laundry cleaned up the boat. Shane met some other boat folk on the docks and we ended up visiting with a couple of couples trading war stories and getting to know each other. We helped the couple that helped us the previous day move their boat to prepare for the departure the next day. We looked at some options for when to head home.
1/15/24 Woke up to a weather window and decided to go for it. We got things together and checked out of the Bahamas for this trip. We used 3 weeks of our 3 month cruisers permit this time, I suspect Shane will want to use it all next time. We had fairly good sees most of the day. We avoided some squalls but overall had great weather. We came in and headed south to dock at the Town of Palm Beach Marina. It is so nice to see floating docks and nice facilities again. We got in and settled and enjoyed big boat watching while eating dinner on the smallest boat in the marina. 61 miles from West End to Palm beach.
1/16/24 Errand day in Palm Beach. Shane woke up to a phone that didn’t work so we had to remedy that. He made an appointment at the apple store and we took off for a full day. We had breakfast at the dinner a short walk from the marina. Walked around by the beach saw all kinds gorgeous houses and expensive cars. It’s always fun to see how the other half live. We went to the mall, walked around until Shane’s appointment at the apple store. They got him fixed up and we continued on to West Marine and another marine store. We took our goodies back to the boat and got ready for dinner. We enjoyed a nice meal at Table 26.
1/17/24 Left big boat land to start our journey north. We cruised under lots of bridges and saw all kinds of boat traffic. We passed by the Jupiter Light House and talked with all kinds of bridge tenders. We found a quiet spot to anchor at Peck Lake. We rode to the shore and walked over to the beach. The winds were blowing and we got slightly sand blasted so we cut our walk short. Enjoyed a nice evening on the boat getting some work done and relaxing. It was a little chilly at 65 and windy but those at home had it much worse at 14. 27 nautical miles this day.
