Well we have been home for one week, and what a week it’s been. Kicked it off with a charity event, raising big funds for a great cause that we have been involved in for many years. It was great to see all the folks we have missed for the last month. However we had a rude awakening that when you leave the solitude of boat life, some times germs come for you. Shane got struck with covid a couple days after being home. He is just about done with his isolation time and not surprisingly I have just started to show symptoms too.
The germs have not stopped him from moving forward on his electrical project. He’s gotten some second and third and fourth opinions and is currently having an electrical schematic drawn up by one of the electricians. He is hopping to have the work done while the boat is in Jacksonville. He plans to go down to help and learn all he can about the system while it goes in. He has been busy on the phone.
I got so excited to use my big land kitchen I managed to slice open two fingers on my right hand. All that swaying and movement on the boat and here on perfectly level solid land I managed to do it up pretty good!
One of the reasons we came home when we did was so I could attend a work meeting in person and then couldn’t do that due to the covid. I hate that we are home but I can’t spend time with my parents but I guess in a week or so we will both be back in the game. Anyway, I’m not letting the fingers or the vid get me down. I’ve done a big puzzle and cooked up all kinds of food that is harder on the boat. We will make the most of this home time. We have big plans for the year ahead that involves lots of boat time. For now I think the boat will be in Jacksonville until March, to let Shane get the electrical project done and we have a ski trip planned for our daughters spring break in early March. Then we will continue further north, Charleston in mid April and the Chesapeake in the fall, with the goal of the boat show in October.
