Back to the Boat 3/21-3/24/24
We made it back down to the boat on 3/21, after a long drive down from home we were excited to be back on board. We spent the 22nd wrapping up most of the loose ends on the electrical project. We enjoyed a good dinner at Marker 32 to celebrate wrapping up that big project. We planned to leave the next morning and meander our way further north.
Back in Jacksonville!
3/23, we woke and began to ready the boat for her first movement in a couple months. During his pre-departure check Shane discovered that we may have some water intrusion in our sail drives. He did a quick oil change and we will keep an eye on it. We left Jacksonville around noon and took a short trip up to Fernandina Breach, Florida. The weather was nice most of the day. We got in and tied up to the dock mere minutes before a squall came rolling through. We waited it out and ventured out to see the town. We ate dinner at a bar right across from the marina (The Salty Pelican), and then walked around down town. We stopped in some cool local shops, Shane bought some clothes (the man forgot to bring any long pants, so it’s either foul weather gear or Patagonia shorts for him) and I just looked around. We got back to boat for a lovely sunset.
3/24 Spent a lovely day in Fernandina Beach, got up and grabbed breakfast at a local spot (that will remain nameless because we were less than thrilled), on the way back to the boat we spotted a donut shop and picked up second breakfast (better than the first). We spent the morning on the boat doing a little work and watching the cruise ship come in. We shared the dock with the American Eagle (part of the American Cruise lines fleet doing a Charleston to Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach cruise). We spent the afternoon exploring town a bit more. We stopped and had a drink at a fun little bourbon/ bowling bar. Then we wandered into a restaurant that we had seen the night before called Ciao. An EXCELENT meal, we will for sure go back there the next time we find ourselves near Amelia Island! The sunsets at Amelia island did not disappoint!
