12/27-31/23
12/27/23 Took off from Fort Lauderdale at about 7:00 made it under the 17th Street bridge for the 7:30 opening. Great people watching of some big boat crew. We went out the inlet for the long passage to Bimini. Things were a bit roll-y with winds on our beam. For the first day we all had some adjusting to do. We got into Bimini about 4:00. Got a spot at the Browns Marina (easy in and cheap but they are working on some updates which are much needed). Ate dinner at the bar there at the marina again not great but suitable for a quick over night. The fish watching under the boat that night was great, big tarpon and sharks. The moonrise and sunrise were great as well! 52 nautical miles covered.
12/31/23 Left Nassau early at 4:00am. Had a much nicer ride over to Little Harbor. We caught 3 fish on the way there. We had some small chop coming at our nose but not too bad. Got into little harbor around 3:30 and were able to secure a mooring ball. It was a great quiet little anchorage. Pretty scenery and calm waters. Annie grilled the Mahi we caught and we had fish tacos for dinner. Rang in the New Year in London and were in bed by 9! 80nautical miles covered this day.
12/28/23 We left Bimini early in the morning with a couple of options for plans. The morning was nice and calm but quickly turned into more rollers. We opted to push through into the dark hours and head strait to Nassau. We secured a spot at Bay Street Marina where we got in around 11pm. I was not thrilled with the conditions and the dark but we made it. Nice big slip but fixed docks. We all slept well that night. 122 nautical miles covered.
12/29/23 A day in Nassau, we ate lunch at the Green Parrot at the marina. Walked around doing touristy stuff, tasting rum cakes and looking at expensive jewelry. Headed back to the boat. Shane, Todd and Ella hit the grocery store and we had dinner on the boat.
12/30/23 another day in Nassau, Shane and Ella hit a dive store to secure her and Dylan masks and fins. Shane found bean bags and had to make a second trip to secure those. Annie got in around 1:30, we chatted and had dinner at The Poop Deck. A Maroon 5 concert right across the bay at the Atlantis resort provided some vibrations to help us sleep.
